Gabe's Trip to Urgent Care

So, long story short....Makiah was riding Gabe's new 4wheeler toy and headed down the hall towards the stairs with Gabe running after her. She turned and drove around the banister and Gabe decided to take a leap off the top of the stairs....not sure why. My mom caught hm after stair 5 or 6. He cried for a bit and then would lay in my arms and then would start crying again. Being new in town, I had no idea where I could take him on a Saturday afternoon. I called the hospital and they told me about Redicare. I headed there with Gabe. We were the only patients for most of the time so it went fast and the staff were great at distracting him. After 2 xrays, they said they could not see a break but still thought something was wrong from his reactions and the tenderness. Since the radiologist wont be back in the office until Monday to read the xray again, the doctor casted it for the mean time in a hard splint and sling. HE HATES IT!! He was so sad when they were putting it on that I asked if we could distract him with a sucker. Even that did not work. He had a total emotional meltdown while they casted it.

Now back home with some tylenol/codine for the pain.....I think I really like codine for him.....he is doing much better. He went to bed ontime with minimal pain and should be back to the doctor on Monday to have them check it and see if it is going to need more than just the sling and splint.

The poor kid can get down to play but then he is stuck until someone comes along to stand him back up. It is pretty ackward for him since the splint weighs a quarter of what he does.

He is such a little stud! I am amazed at what these kids are capable of doing...and doing again...and again. We had a wonderful time tonight and are so excited that you will be back. We love you!
