The Green Box

This is the little green box that has currently taken over my life. I am sitting down doing FHE with the kids when all the sudden the power goes out. We live on an island and this can happen pretty frequently... so I grab a flashlight and run out and get the generator started. After we contact RECO (the islands power company) they tell us the will send a rep out to check everything out as they currently have power to our grid. To make a long story short, our transformer is shot. We have been using the generator on and off for the past couple of weeks now until a new transformer can be purchased. Like two hours on, two hours off type of shifts for 24 hours a day. You don't really realize how much you depend upon something like electricity until it is completely gone from your life. My wife who is now coming up on her 8th month of pregnancy definetely is not happy with this situation. She would wait to hear the generator come on and hug the A/C conditioner until she was a popsicle! It has also led to some intense working conditions here at the resort. On the brighter side the new transformer should be pulled out of customs tommorrow and installed this week so we can finally have our lives back. It is amazing the little things you take for granted like doing email, washing clothes or showering whenever you feel like it.

Butterfly Gardens

Kenda and Kiah were able to go to the butterfly gardens on a field trip with Kenda's school. It is one of the really great, but not so popular attractions here. I honestly have never been, but it is the girls second time. I really need to get out and start doing these fun things while we are still here:)Kenda completely enjoyed looking at the butterfly's, but Kiah really just enjoyed the flowers and being with her big sis for a change. It looks like Kenda is going to continue going to school this year with Miss Mel and then start Kindergarden this September. It is difficult for us to think that our daughter is going to Kindergarden next year! We are really starting to get old.

Good Times

We had the best time on our vacation to the the US. We actually went for 7 weeks. I would like to mention all the the people I saw in the funniest places.

First, Jamie and I went out for some time alone in Pocatello Idaho when we were staying with her parents. We drove around Pocatello and finally found a place that met both our satifaction... the Texas Stake house. The meal was good and as we were walking out I pass George, Mandy, the kids and D. What a small world. (By the way D, you do look better without the facial hair). Right after we get over the shock Jappy comes up right behind them with his family. Kind of funny really.

Then when I was in Post Falls Walmart rushing around on my last day I see this woman who looks a lot like Cass, but pregnant. Sure enough it was Cass. Apparently they are done with the military life and decided they would move back to good ole Post Falls. I have to say that this is my dream also... not about the military, but settling down back where we started.

In the most uncrazy places we had a great time with our family and friends. We enjoyed playing games with John and Alissa, fighting over dinner checks with Matt and Kass, making fun of Randy, wrestling with Keegan in the car wash parking lot, a long car drive with Da, Nik and the kids, celebrating Dave's B-Day party with Zillian and the gang... the list goes on and on. We had a ton of fun watching Kenda and Kiah play with their cousins. It is difficult to think that Kenda is closer to starting high school at this point then how long it has been since I took my first steps into high school. Are we getting old or what?

I would like to tell everyone that my newest hobby is bee's. Yes it sounds crazy but so much fun. The bee hives are like little puzzles to me that just need to be solved. I have not gotten myself bit yet, but can imagine that the day will come. When we were in Shelley I was able to spend some time with Windie(Jamie's mom) building bee boxes and setting them up. I had so much fun. It really made my vacation complete.

The older I get the more I enjoy the boring times that I resented so much as a kid. I love just sitting down and talking to just catch up on everything I have missed over the years. My best friends I have learned are the ones that you can simply pick up where you left off. I have also come to realize that life is starting to fly by pretty quick. It feels like just yesterday I was entering the mission field and graduating from college.

I want everyone to know that we miss them and will be home soon. We are currently planning on being home next June. I will start my education over to become a CPA and continue to move forward with our lives. My parents are coming this November to take our place and I a really excited to spend a couple of months with them. Upon returning to the US I think I will miss them terribly. It has been nice to see them every couple of months and someday I hope we live close to them again:)
